AVT TECHNOLOGY AVT is the new amazing anti-vibration technology from Makita and the way forward in protecting against the effects of vibration related injury, it is a milestone in user safety andreliability, setting a benchmark for others in the power tool industry to follow. AVT was born from research carried out in California at the Seismic Research Unit; originally these systems were set up to measure the strengthof earthquakes bymonitoring the tremors they created. This in turn started the process that gives birth to AVT, scientists tried to counteract these tremors by fighting the waves using Dynamic Damping, this Dynamic Damping is the principal onwhich AVTis based. Dynamic Damping is essentially a way of moving energy so it drains away from the object you are holding; the more heavily damped the system the faster the energy drains away. There are various ways of achieving this i.e. using a mechanical damper which is effectively a counter balance weight which, provides an equal and opposite anti-vibration force that puts an equal mass directly opposite the point at which the striker bolt delivers the impactjoules to the drill bit, saw blade or breaker steel, this eliminates vibration as the power increases, without the dissipation of power through vibration more of the generated energy in the motor can be delivered to thetool bititself. There is also a Dynamic Vibration Absorber, which shifts the air pressure in the crank, and the barrel room actively controls the balancer to move it to the opposite sides of the piston.
