Record Power BS300E Bandsaw - Review

At our recent woodworking event held at our Cardiff branch, we were visited by representatives from Record Power. During the show, they demonstrated some of their machinery.  Our machinery expert Dave Union was on hand to review some of the machines.

First up is the BS300 Mid Size Bandsaw

Record Power BS300E Mid Sized Bandsaw
On display at our Cardiff Showroom

With a maximum depth of cut of 190mm a throat depth of 305mm and powerful motor capacity of 1hp, this is no lightweight bandsaw. The machine features a solid fence for accurate ripping and once the correct blade was fitted it performed very well on soft and hardwood. This bandsaw is the ideal machine for woodturners who cut out blanks for bowls up to 190mm deep.

Other features which were impressive were the micro switches on top and bottom doors which make the machine completely safe when changing blades. The blade guides either side of the blade and the back thrust bearings mean that accurate cuts were achieved every time. The rise and fall guard assembly allows cutting timber to be achieved safely because the blade above the cut is not exposed. The machine even has cast iron handwheels which are fitted with precision ground rubber tyres for a very smooth cut. People attending the show were impressed at the many features this machine offers and its exceptional value.

This machine also comes with its own stand, basic wheel kit, precision ground cast iron table and a decent mitre fence. The Record BS300E is currently displayed on the machinery floor at our Cardiff branch.
